Kelly's Desk Transformation

This project was an absolute nightmare! LOL. I tried decoupaging the top about 3-4 times. It ripped, it stretched, and the ink bled. Sigh. Then, I gave up and decided to just paint the top and decoupage the drawers. End deal....
Before
I used wallpaper paste to apply the paper. This is not wallpaper but because it's not, it bleeds easily. Mod Podge is worse for bleeding then wallpaper paste. TRUST ME, boy do I know this now! haha
Then I used polyurethane, water based only, to seal the paper. You have to put on a minimum of 2-3 coats to make sure all of the paper is sealed so that it doesn't peel or rip later on. In fact, I'm putting on more coats today. I will probably end up with about 6 coats when it's all said and done. Sounds like a lot but this sucker will never come off!
And wallah! I got this idea off Pinterest. There is a desk on there that I absolutely loved and just had to copy. So, I hate to say this idea is not my own but oh well. That is what Pinterest is for --> ideas!!! :-)

I decided a while ago that decoupage was invented by the devil to try us :-D Well done for persevering, it looks gorgeous!

I think you are correct! Any kind of paper that is not "decoupagable" is a pain but you never know until you try it. Errrrr
