Do NOT listen to anyone that tells you bleach kills mold. It does NOT. White vinegar kills mold and mildew, bleach just discolors it. I know this because I have a severe mold allergy from being exposed to mold in a previous residence and several mold experts (I am suing) all told me that vinegar kills it and anytime I come in contact with even a slight amont of mold or mildew I have a severe reaction, my skin burns and itches for one and if i spray my skin with vinegar and water it stops immediately, Vinegar and water also saved me thousands of dollars in clothes and houselhold items. If it is a small amount of mold use vinegar to kill the mold and then carpet cleaner to remove stain. But check the padding and the floor underneath, it could be covered.

You might need to replace the carpet. If you can see the mold, there is a lot more that you can't see.
  • Chorine bleach. White vinegar. Borax. Fungicides kill mold. If it is black mold, then you have a larger issue at hand and health hazard. You need to wear protective gear and masks. black mold can kill you. It is not a shower mildew kind of thing it is a deadly toxic organism. If it is in the carpet then you have to have it pulled up. I hope if you do this you wear goggles, gloves, and mask and then do not touch anything after you are done. If you wash the clothes then use vinegar and borax in the washer. here is a link I want you to check out-just a short EHow link :http://www.ehow.com/info_8048910_kills-black-mold.html
