Our Much Needed Kitchen Makeover

The "before" photo was what the kitchen looked like when we moved in. It has taken on many different "small" transformations. The "after" photo is showing our new counter tops, painted cabinets, and new appliances. Yeah!
It may not be very big, but I love it.
We installed the microwave above the stove. I needed all the counter space I could get!
Ugh. No comment necessary. You guys are all thinking it.
These under counter lights are fabulous! Not only do they create great lighting, they cost $8!
Painting the cabinets white, was the biggest improvement. But adding molding to the bottom of the cabinets, made a huge difference. I learned to use a miter box myself. I did have a lot of extra scrap (mistake) pieces left over.

Did you just take the doors off the cabinet above the microwave, or remove the cabinet altogether and put in a shelf?

Very true Becky H. When we designed our kitchen I wanted the microwave off the counter too so we picked a cabinet for a double oven and converted it to hold a single oven with the microwave above it. One of the best decisions we made.
