Logs, Logs and More Logs. Come See How We Fixed This Log Problem!

What were they thinking???? Okay, to be fair this was done at least 13 years ago, maybe they wanted a rustic cabin feel? Maybe they wanted the look of a log cabin without the expense? I don’t know but it’s very odd. It couldn’t even be fixed with a coat of paint, there was NO way these logs were staying. I must apologize if you are reading this and love the look of logs, it’s just not our style and they had to go, ASAP!
This photo is from the house tour, it's the best representation of what the house looked like when we moved in. Thank goodness those logs were not load bearing!
My Hubs and his brother started with the log over the fireplace, notice the hooks on the far left, they proudly held the BBQ lighters. Very decorative. ;)
Bill, my BIL was key to getting this done, his experience and expertise made this whole thing possible! I am so grateful!
These buggers were massive and needed to be cut up.
Here's our lovely mess during the trim build, left side up. Yep I lived with the bare studs and messed up drywall for a whole year, not a big deal... I preferred that over the logs!
The before and after... what one do you prefer?
