How to care for my potted basil plant?

I have a potted basil plant that I don't want the frost to kill, so I brought it inside. How do I care for it indoors?

Basil is tricky to grow indoors because it really needs bright light and warmth. If, however, you keep your house above 70 degrees both day and night, and have a sunny spot, it should do OK.

I also would add to Douglas' most excellent answer, to keep it fairly compact and not allow it to form bloom stalks. Also make sure you have really good drainage in the pot you choose and not to keep it in standing water with a saucer where there might be a possibility of humidity building up. Water and allow to drain out. Take care that you don't over fertilize while you have inside so that you don't build up salts in your soil.

I would add that basil may need humidity when grown indoors. I would mist it occasionally and set the pot on a tray of pebbles and water that is shallower than the rock size (hope this makes sense)
