I now loooove my stairs. They are easy to keep clean.

Your choice of a darker stain on the treads and railing really makes it pop against the white paint on the risers.

They look great and I really can appreciate what all you have done because we are in the process of painting our stairs. One of the first projects that caught my eye when I started following Hometalk a couple of months ago. It's a big project, as you probably well know and I just finished painting the spindles tonight. All 36 of them! We went with dark brown and white also. So nice not to have the carpet anymore.

Looks gorgeous! Someday I'll get to remove our carpet. I'm curious, do you still have floors that are lighter than your treads? We have really light wood floors and I'd love to go with dark stairs...maybe I go black to make it look more purposeful...

Yes, our entry way is a light golden oak. The stair treads and banister is a red oak. we love it.

I've seen this done lots of times on blogs and I love it every time I see it! Yours is beautiful! We have only 5 stairs up from our main level but I too want that carpet off someday! So much easier to clean :-)
