Have you been able to see what's behind them, Elaine? It would be ideal to remove it and replace with a tile. There are faux-tiles that actually stick-on, or doing a reed wallpaper to give some texture might be interesting. Post some pictures!

Your choices are limited with the laminate.If you can remove it.Lowes has good deals on tile type back splashes.Be sure to use a really good primer on your counter top.I would go with a alcohol base product (Slack) there to insure bonding.Nothing worse than to get it done only to have it peel or scratch off.Good Luck

It depends on how your colors work, you don't have to paint the laminate backsplash if you don't mind some of the ol yellar being around.

There are all sorts of things that you can do. it all depends upon your imagination. There is granite stone paint kits for laminate so why not paint it with some texture look. You could paint a brick pattern by doing a grout color first, tape then follow with a brick or stone color. If the paint is good enough to use on a counter, then it will work fine for a wall surface.
