Free Coffee Table Transformed!
My friend had a coffee table she said was on her deck getting rained on she wanted to just get rid of it. She had put the cushioned pads around it when her kids were babies so they wouldn't get hurt so when she took the cushion off she was left with a ton of sticky residue that would not come off. The top boards were warped some and it just needed an updated makeover!
I had to strip the top and sand sand sand to get that sticky cushion residue off.there was also a chipped area on the top and the wood was peeling so I used some wood filler, let it dry, sanded, filled more and sanded. Once I did that I decided to stain the top dark. I went with minwax jacobean and did about 3 coats to get it like I liked it. Then I chalk painted the bottom in a color I mixed myself. It turned out a cream color with maybe a hint of yellow. Of course I had to distress because I personally love a well worn look. Then I waxed with clear and dark waxes to give it that somewhat old and amazing patina! The results were pretty awesome and this sold within a day or so of posting.

I have a question for anyone out there, how do you get old buckled Vanir off. I have a sweet vanity I want to redo but someone has left this to get rain soaked over an over again. I love the piece. Can you help?
