Burnt on Plastic to a glass stove top

Question

Looking for help regarding I turned on stove top burner accidently, that had onions
in a plastic bag I had just sent them down to put away other items

We use various glass stove specific cleaners for our glass stove top. I've never tried to get off plastic, but it has helped with everything else. I wish I had a better answer. Good luck

Use a glass top stove cleaner. Pour a lot on, and smear it all over the burnt plastic. Now this may be scary, but the guy at PC Richard told me this and it has my stove looking new for 3 years now..... take a razor blade and slant it, scrape off the plastic. Only do this while there is the white creamy glass cleaner under it. The guy told me not to worry, it is hard to scratch up. I haven't scratched it yet, ( fingers crossed, no jinx). Good luck!!!

Try heating it up with a hair dryer, pull up what you can, then while it's warm clean with your glass top cleaner.

Same thing happened to me except it was a styrofoam take out container that I set on top of my stove while it was still too hot. I used a blade out of one of those utility knives. But I bet using the hair dryer to soften it first would make it work better. Anyway I got it all off.

I've used a pizza cutter to gently scrape off a ,melted plastic spoon. I covered the mess with glass cleaner and then scraped it off. Worked well.

I had the same problem while making jelly and it boiled over. I have a 'widget', a razor blade in a small plastic holder. Worked and got the stove clean. Use it all the time now.

My first glass stove was back in the early 70s...a corning one. To get off stuff that is burned on, take a razor blade and holding it at about a 15 degree angle, scrap off bad stuff. Try this. In fact, I put Bon Ami on my stove and use a razor blade to scrape it clean. It sure beats scrubbing!

Had a jenn air glass cooktop and wiemans with a razor blade was in the manufacturers instructions for burnt on items.
