cottage DIY Headboard for a little girls room

This small cottage bedroom needed an update for a very cute little girl. We picked a great stripe fabric for drapes and bedskirt, a beautiful purple embroidered fabric for the duvet cover and made a custom headboard from a salvaged top piece from an old dresser. We added hooks and made the back cushion with ties and thick piping.

She was very happy with it!

Well I can certainly see why. It's very pretty, but not overly girly.

So the headboard is actually a big cushion? Am I Right? If so , this is brilliant! And I love the colors!

    Hi Bernice,

Yes, you are right, the headboard is a big cushion, I used a new form for an outdoor chaise cushion, it was exactly the right size and depth to be perfect!

Just sent it to my granddaughter for her little girl. This looks so comfortable for reading in bed. The cushion stays in place and is softer than a head board would be. Doesnt slide like a pillow would. Good idea for adult bed also. I can't read in bed because the pillows always slide down, hurts my back. this is really cool.

What a great idea! And this is one cushion you won't have to bring inside when it rains!

Cynthia Weber @ A Button Tufted Life... hi, I sent the post to her, but they just moved back here from Virginia, and wont have a house until early Spring. So I will have to resend when she has a house to decorate. They are staying at inlaws now.
