DIY Gold Cake Stand

My daughter's 1st birthday party is this weekend, and I needed something pretty to hold all the cupcakes. I don't own any cake plates (sad, right?), so I thought I'd make my own! I'd seen some on Pinterest before, so I took a stab at some myself!
I went to the Dollar Store and found a few plastic plates and two glass candlesticks. I also went to the Goodwill and found a large charger and another taller candlestick.
Using metallic gold spray paint, I painted both sides of the plates and the candlesticks.
Once dry, I used some hot glue and glued the candlestick to the bottom of the plates. Done! a gorgeous gold cake plate that will look SO pretty holding my daughter's cupcakes! AND, you'd never know that most of the materials were from the Dollar Store!
