How to Make a Chandelier Chain Cover When It's Mounted to the Ceiling

Today I’m sharing how to make a chandelier chain cover when your chandelier is mounted to your ceiling. Our dining room has a chandelier that was here when we moved in. I like it but I wanted to add a pretty chain cover and I don’t know about you but my hubs isn’t a fan of taking things down so here’s how I did it.

I found this pretty toile at a thrift store a while back and I LOVE it.

I grabbed my step stool and moved my dining room table over so I could measure and work on it.

I measured it to be 7″ tall and I like to double and a half the length when I make a chain cover for a nice gather.

I cut my fabric about 20″ long and about 6″ wide.

I then folded and ironed three of the edges.

I then pinned the fabric onto the chain and as I was pinning I hand gathered the fabric up the chain.

You can see all the pins here. Then I took my time and hand sewed it onto the chain. When I was done I turned the seam around to the back and hand gathered it evenly.

Voila, a new chain cover on my chandelier in under 30 minutes. I love it and it just gives a nice warm and finished look.

Good idea...for those who don't sew you could use velcro to close and later remove for washing....

Looks really nice!!! Love the chandelier too!!! I have an unsolvable problem in that my kitchen and family room are all together, very large area. I would like a chandelier over the kitchen table but the ceiling light is in the family room over the sofa totally useless. I don't like the idea of a chain swung from the family room way over to the kitchen table approx. 4ft. The cover over the chain might work better but not sure after spending a considerable amount on the chandelier that I want, it might not look right.
