walls were simply covered with a troweled cement mix. Block walls with cement applied this way develop cracks, De-lamination, pattern ghosting, etc. These applications are usually applied by the contractor, and he is looking for the most budget application.
If you have a true stucco application, applied correctly, it's quite durable and usually last many many years.
It's not how often to resurface, how often to resurface is when it's cracked.De-laminated, damaged, old or???
