New Vegetable Edging and Black Iris in Bloom

A fabulous day here and just perfect for some hard work ! The new edging on the large vegetable garden is macrocarpa sleepers 200x100 and boy are they heavy. First thing was to get rid of the old concrete edging which was L shaped and half buried, that involved the sledge hammer, always fun a bit of destruction. And then we laid the bottom sleepers with the upper ones offset.
The front view, two high.
We won't be back filling until we have secured the sleepers with steel rods.
A nice bark edge.
Each end and the other long side will only be one high, but that is for next weekend, need a rest now.
The beautiful black Iris finally opened, just lovely.

Having just finished a 24' x 4' raised bed, also 12" 12x2s" I know how much work this is. Sleepers! What a find. Your gardens (and that IRIS!) are beautiful.

What are sleepers? Great job. I love iris! Have two beds of them but nothing as exotic as yours.

@Michelle W Thanks. Have "railway ties" in my yard. They are much thicker than the sleepers. ???
