...or even a darker purple gray that's in the border to anchor the room!

What about milk paint...Miss Mustard Seed's "Dried Lavender" on the legs and either "Grain Sack" or "Ironstone" for the top? Or her dark gray, "Trophy" would be pretty on the legs too.

@Judy Kelley. It's a matter of personal preference. I've used Annie Sloan's chalk paint and Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint and I much prefer MMS milk paint over chalk paint. Since MMS milk paint comes in powder form and needs to be mixed with water (and Bonding Agent if you don't want chipping), it can be a little tricky to get mixed up well but I like the way it goes on. I love her colors. (There will be some new paint colors introduced some time after the first of the year that I'm excited to see). MMS's milk paint is also cheaper than Annie Sloan's chalk paint. Like chalk paint, milk paint dries with a flat, matte finish and needs to be finished off with something to protect it and bring up the sheen level. I have used MMS (clear and white) waxes but typically, I prefer the ease of the Hemp Oil she carries in her milk paint line for sealing. She has also come out with a Tough Coat sealer that I have not had a chance to try yet. One other little perk with Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint... Robyn Story Designs in Tampa, FL ships all Miss Mustard Seed products for FREE. I can sit at home in my pajamas and order it online and then have it shipped right to my door at no extra charge! Love that! If you want to know more about Miss Mustard Seed's milk paint, here's the link for her Frequently Asked Questions page: http://www.missmustardseedsmilkpaint.com/faqs/

    What's your favorite color?

What about Annie Sloans Graphite? That way if you decide at some point to change the border to something else the table will be neutral. You won't be sorry!

If u want a "pop" of color, choose something from the coral/salmon family, or look in your closet n choose your favorite color. If u want to blend, go with a charcoal or a rich black, but these will show dust. Distressed ASCP Old White would also work. Your choice. For paint? I've tried several; kept wondering what the fuss was all about bc each brand had its drawback. My fave is new Folk Art by Plaid, great palette, super leveling, best coverage, good price, convenient availability at JoAnn's, online, etc. Use a water based, poly sealer, 2 coats, good brushes.

Hope you will consider EMILE or PALOMA in the Annie Sloan chalk paint line. They would also be beautiful paired together. Looks like they would compliment your wallpaper very well ! Good luck and have fun !!!

ASCP Versailles, SW Wheat Grass 6408 or Behr Outback 390F-4All three are the same color I would chalk paint it. Annie Sloane is already mixed chalk paint but (Sherwin Williams & Behr are not- you'd have to make your own with these two. Post a pic when you're done:)

How about "Old White" by Annie Sloan for the legs, and a walnut stain from Minwax for the top? You can add pops of color here and there as you accessorize the room. I just recently made over a smaller table, and it turned out beautiful! I know Annie Sloan is expensive, so you can make your own chalk paint. Using latex paint, and calcium carbonate for the chalk. Believe me it works!

Folk Art Chalk Paint Castle for the top and Lilac for the legs.

What are you trying to do with the table? Is it for a child's room? If for children then dark gray or green chalk paint. if not then why paint it? just refinish it and place a nice flower vase on it.

@Rusty Avery It will be used to eat on when I have company over for dinner. I have a small dinette (sits 6) in my kitchen. this table has 2 (24 in) leafs.

If yo want to use chalk paint, I would go with a dark gray color, and paint the chairs periwinkle, a blue purple color. Just another suggestion.
  • Pat Zagami Pat Zagami on Nov 03, 2014
I would pick a green off the border.

What color is the wallpaper border?can't tell.
  • Kimberly Kimberly on Nov 04, 2014
Neutrals are always best for tables when using Annie Sloan chalk paint, unless you plan on painting it again in a couple years. French Linen, Country Grey and Paris grey are a few of my favorites.
