Judith if you can't afford to throw them out or need them for protection from heat maybe, just spray paint them. I'd have fun though and think of all the fun things you could do like, paint every other one, pick two colours you like together and go for it, one black one white for instance. Or..... Paint them one solid colour and when well dry, tape off the bottom two feet or so and paint that another colour, like pale grey with a darker grey bottom, or whatever colours you like. I might think about not using the big drapes you have over them, maybe make the side panels as suggested above. Have fun, draw pictures on paper to get ideas.
