My daughter is 13 and I want to surprise her by decorating her bedroom all Christmas themed when she comes home. What can I do? Preferably in the price range of $5-$20 dollars.

We have a lot of great ideas on Hometalk! Here are a few of my favorites: If your daughter is a music fan I love the idea of making these trees and putting them on top of her dresser: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/decorate/christmas/last-minute-christmas-easy-vintage-paper-trees-726082 Putting one of these wreaths on her bedroom door would really welcome her home for the holidays: http://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=christmas+ornament++wreath And we have tons of garland ideas to string about her room as well: http://www.hometalk.com/search/posts?filter=christmas+garland I would love to see the decorated room when you are finished creating.

You have some wonderful ideas @Jill Feigelman Are there any others? Something maybe that a 13 year old would really appreciate?

I bleached bottlebrush trees from Michaels. I used my 50% off coupon on the big bag but you could just buy a couple. After bleaching, I used food color as a dye to re dye --there are tutorials but I just put a cup of water and a few squirts of food dye. It did not take long for blue nor pink. When bleaching original trees, I dipped in bleach ( small cup) if I wanted to lighten tree or left it to soak about ten minutes for a polar bear white tree. I ran under water and used a comb to get their white paint off. I shook the trees and let them air dry. Then I glued in different sized old jars. I painted the lids if they had writing. A friend used fingernail polish along the edge that showed but I have not. Glue trees to lid with hot glue. Make sure lid will still go on to jar. So cute to have assorted tree colors and sizes of jars. For snow I used the fake snow at Michaels ( I used a coupon) and a bit of glitter. Fun to shake! Trays at Dollar store for $1. Use silver or spray paint your theme. I use any jar I have from glass olive jars to jelly jars. If you have a canning jar they look nice too. The dollar tree sells them for a dollar. No water used!! But fun to turn over and see the snow fall!!! Happy gathering!!!

How about recycling some old magazines into Christmas trees? Google it for directions. Make some Bows and fabric or paper garland around the walls and windows... Definitely add some twinkling lights too! If she likes spicy scents you could make some cinnamon applesauce ornaments too. Cut some paper snowflakes to put on the windows and mirrors or make some with school glue and glitter. Wrap framed pictures with coordinating paper and bows then hang them on the walls. You can do so much with what you already have around your home. If you haven't already, start a collection of keepsake ornaments for her. Shell love having these special things when she has her own place and she can pass them on to her children too. I'm not talking about those $40 card shop things... I mean something you make or see that reminds you of your precious bond! Good luck! Let us know how things turn out! Pics would be great too!!!!

Maybe some Christmas related words cut from cardboard boxes with paint and glitter. A Christmasy blanket for the bed and some pillows from old sweaters. You can make a faux fireplace from cardboard boxes and duct tape and decorate it. You could even fill the fireplace area with a few logs and a string or two of red lights to simulate a fire. You could get her her own tree and decorate it. Or sneak out to the woods and dig up a small fir and plant it in a pot. How about an advent calendar with small things she likes on each day... Nail file, polish, lip gloss, gum, mints, hand lotion samples, hair ties...
