High rise birdhouses!

Leave tree stumps rather than removing them to use as sturdy stands for birdhouses in your garden! Put a trellis in between them to train a vine up and create a lovely garden focal point.

If you take the outer bark off they will last for a long time. This is what the forest service does when using logs for benches and seats. It helps to keep bugs off the log because they don't have all those little hiding spots.
