I'd give it a little sanding and then paint it a new color that you love and change the upholstery. It would look great. Maybe distress it some.

Yeah, All that needs is a little off white chalk paint and dark wax. I think the textile is super cute the way it is! Throw a pillow on it to make it look a little more filled out.
