{Tutorial} How to Replace Missing Pieces on Your Furniture

Have you ever fell in love with an old antique piece of furniture that you wanted to restore, just to find out that it had a missing chunk that you couldn’t fix? This has happened to me multiple times. Chairs that have had missing curved railings, desks with missing appliqués, and this nightstand where the bottom of the design in had been knocked off somehow.
I used this technique to fix this missing piece from the front of this night stand, but it could also be used to recreate a piece of hardware or an appliqué.
This was the missing section in the wood design.
I created a mold based on the other side of the design and used resin to create the cast. Then I used wood glue to glue the cast to the night stand.
Here she is all fixed up. You can see a little bit of a line where the new piece begins. I wasn't too worried about it looking perfect, as there were plenty of imperfections on this piece always... but if I wanted it to look perfect, I could have spent a little bit more time sanding around the joint.
