What is the latest trend for the finish on bathroom fixtures?

We are replacing all of our kitchen and bathroom fixtures in our home. The home is in Gilbert, AZ and the last street of dreams homes all had antique brass fixtures. I was going to use brushed nickel but I do not want to spend all of this money for a finish that is not the newest trend. I don't want it outdated at the start! Help... We have 3 bathrooms and a jack and jill for 2 bedrooms so there are 5 sets of sink faucets and all the rest. So, bottom line, Antique Brass or stick with the Nickel?

  • In our area brushed nickel but it sounds as if you need to do a day visit of various model and show homes to get a feel for the trends in new homes. I would also check out any plumbing showrooms because they will have the newest finishes and designs. But it comes down to taste and if you are going to keep the home or sell it. If it is your forever home, then I would go with what you love and what makes your heart 'sing'. good luck in your choices.

Thanks...is what I have been doing and in Florida and AZ I have been told the antique brass is up and coming. We are not selling right away but I also do not want to put something in that is on the way out, just in case. Thanks so much for your suggestions. So appreciate your input!

Brass is coming back in vogue so I say keep the antique brass. I have shiny brass and it's only been in the last while I have been able to buy replacement taps for one of my sinks. My opinion - I love the warmth and richness of brass.

Thanks, Marion, Welp...I have bright brass now and have had it for 26 years and do not like it... I really prefer the Satin Nickel. I do like the Antique Brass but the style I want is 3 times as expensive as the Nickel and it seems foolish to buy something 3 times the cost that I do not really love. I don't have Antique Brass right now...all fixtures must be replaced. I am using antique dressers and buffets for the sinks. Master buffets are done in Grey and Old White Chalk paint...the Nickel just seems to go better...plus there are a lot of fixtures! Still thinking though...thanks for your comments! CeCe

I am hoping some interior designers will read the question and tell me what they are telling clients the latest trend of faucet finish is.
