New creations of cd disc spinners and tiers

My young friend Annamarie and I worked a whole afternoon doing cd spinners. She blew me out of the water, she started with simple, then each one got progressively more involved and creative, until she was making scenes on hers! So, of course, I started copying her! We also did some tiers in between gluing time. I have sooo much glass ware , we need to do more! We glued discs together first, then burned a hole for the wire to go through.

Wellllll . . . ya know what? I have a wood burning tool too - which I have never used!!

A few years back I hinted to high heaven for Santa to bring me a wood burning kit and I don't know what got in my way - besides LIFE - but I just never got around to using it. So, a CD sounds like a good safe starting place!! LOL Actually, I thought about the wood burner thing a few days ago when I tried the "aging wood method" one of the other people posted. The wood turned out fantastic ...»

and I was tinkering w/digging out my kit and finally putting it to use!!

Hi...Well it is just a little cheap art.....take 2 cd's, glue together shiny side out. Burn a hole or drill a hole for your wire or dental floss, whatever. Then glue half marbles, (gems) or anything you want on one side, let glue harden, glue stuff on the other side, hang. you can use anything you want, I like half marbles .(.walmart cheapest), or mirrors, we started putting designs out of half marbles on ours. I have another post on hometalk with more.....fun cheap easy..Use clear ...»
silicone caulking if they will be hung outside, other wise E6000 or any strong glue for inside will do. They spin and reflect like disco balls!! kids love them in their room, I love mine on the porch!

Thanks Barb Rosen they are easy cheap fun and fast, my kind of craft! Do you remember when we got so many free cd's in the mail? I have a canister of cd's now that havent gotten used, most stuff goes on those little storage things any more, so I make these then pawn them off on my friends! ha

Hey Bernice - hummmm - for some reason I never picked up before NOW that you glued two together. But if you covered the UNshiny side with enough stuff wouldn't it cover any lable or would it show thru. Just wondered. I know what you mean about everybody and their brother used to send out CD's. Now you never get 'em anymore. I asked my husband if he could dig out all his old ones and do you know what?? He said, Oh I think I threw them away!! Gasp! :(

haha funny hubby! If you put enough stuff o n them you could cover up the other side, however I like the shiny reflection from both sides in the sun! The ones above are showing both sides, we turned them over for the picture so you could see both sides.

Susan S hey I bet if you put an ad on Craigs list, or post a note on bulletin boards etc, you could find free cd's! Or just ask friends....everyone has some old cd music they dont like any more! As I said, i had bought oneof those big 100 cd containers from costco a long time ago and still have about 70 left, never did copy all i thought i was going to! They are so cheap!

Bernice H - have you ever considered that you might actually be part ferret? They like to scarf away shiny blingy things!! My daughter's roommate years ago had a pet ferret and they steal everything from socks, underwear, anything laying around loose but they especially like anything shiny - that includes bits of aluminum foil, candy wrappers, jewelry. They're funny but you gotta know where they stash their stash!! LOL

Bernice H - OHHHHHHHH - You have that too? It's a real ________ isn't it? I was diagnosed about 8 yrs ago. That's when a whole bunch of stuff started going really whacky w/my immune system so fibromyalgia is just one of them. Nothing that can't be controlled but as you know, some days are better than others!!

yes, i self diagnosed from a Good Housekeeping magazine, or Womans Day, in 94, I couldnt understand what was wrong, but I could hardly crawl out of bed , and all i wanted to do was crawl back into bed. DR's at that time didnt recognize it for years. Finally got confirmation . It is much better now, except when i get emotional, over tired or the WEATHER!!!!Yes some days are better than others.Hope you don't have too many down days!

Guess you might say it's about 50/50 but other days it's more like 90/10. Weather, stress - just life in general can affect it and set it off!! Mine all started about 10 yrs ago w/ Thyroid issues progressing into other auto-immune disorders. Have you ever heard of Sjogrens Syndrome? It is something that affects the eyes & salivary glands. A lot of people have dry eyes as they "age" but Sjogrens attacks the tear ducts and prohibits the eyes from lubricating. Same w/salivary glands. Have you ...»
ever had your mouth go so dry you couldn't even swallow and your lips feel like they're sticking to your teeth? This is what Sjogrens is about but on a hyper-elevated scale! This is not about being thirsty - it's just that your mouth also doesn't produce enough natural salava. Its an interesting disorder to have to deal with but when your immune system gets screwed up then everything else in your body is also subject to getting out of whack. OK, enough on physical issues. Life goes on!!!
