Mirror questions!

Question

Hello! I wanted do something totally different with this mirror.. I am thinking about putting pennies all over that mirror frame. I wanted look very attractable. Or I accept other suggestions! ANY SUGGESTION? :) I would love love love love love to hear a lot of ideas!

You could go for a two-tone look by staining the frame dark (maybe dark walnut?) and then painting the thin curved piece at the top of the mirror white! Or maybe gold since it's kind of like the color of pennies :)

What about doing tinfoil all over it and then staining it with a brown stain and wiping off most of it.

Looks like your in a dorm. put it on the ceiling?  Only kidding. Would not last very long.  From your profile, your into photography. Why not make mini picture frames, put photos of your work, then glue them all around. Not side by side, but make them like you had the photos and threw them onto a table, with some slightly covering over another. Use wallet size or some slightly larger. You would need to make the frames out of trim and tiny sheets of cardboard. Hot glue the frame materials, paint them different colors and hot glue them onto the frame of the mirror.  I would paint that black so the brown does not show through.

Woodbridge.............Your comment made me laugh so hard, it's a wonder I didn't go into hysterics!  Love 'the ceiling'.  But, careful!  I was a member of a service league, sponsoring a tour of homes in Naples.  When the homes on our list were being discussed, a decorator attending our meeting said the homeowner was open to suggestions for further improvements on their massive, newly redecorated Master Suite.  I jokingly said, yes, a mirror on the ceiling.  I want you to know, when I did the tour of all the homes, there was a mirror on her bedroom ceiling.  I wasn't sure if it'd been there before my comment, or added afterwards, but I thought I'd swallow my tongue.

Are you a fan of the beach?....you could mix up a thinned batch of white glue and apply it to the frame then sprinkle beach sand on it...With a thick application  it will look a bit like a sandstone frame...you could also then add some shells, small bits of driftwood or a starfish to assist with the beach theme.

Wow! Those are an amazing ideas! Well, let me tell you all about my room little more (NOT A DORM! LOL) well, right now, it is hanging on the wall. My room is light grey (forgot the name of the paint) most items are black, blue, red, and mostly brown. The mirror matches the dresser too, so I wanted do something with the dresser too! I am a fan of the beach, but I am extremely afraid that sand pieces will fall off when I move the mirror around. LOL. I am a HUGE fan of wolves though. I could add pictures to it too! I am thinking about buying a fake fur that looks like wolves pattern, and then cover all up except the mirror, Then, adding white Christmas light around the mirror. Maybe have a couple of wolves picture around, and some rocks, branches, something like that. but I would love to have it more design because I wanted to keep this mirror forever, so I can hang up in the bedroom or something. What do you think?

Tyler, I can't say that your mirror style reminds me of rustic and wolves.  However, what if you were to go through wildlife magazines and find articles and pictures on wolves?  Either copy/print or tear out the pages and decoupage those to the mirror frame.  You would want to mix printed article w/pictures, picking and choosing/arranging until you had the colors and shapes in a design you enjoy.  From that, you could choose a flat black or darker grey (ie. charcoal) to paint the dresser.  It's just a thought.

You can purchase beautiful architectural wood trim and attach it.  Perhaps paint it and age the look.. then just leave it setting up against a wall and use as a full length mirror.  It will help add character to the room and add the illusion of space since it is so large.

How about a tile mosaic? You can collect different small tiles and glass'stones' with a flat bottompretty cheaply.I'm planning a big wall mosaic for my bathroom and have been tiles and glass stones for a few mos.collecting used tiles, pieces of tiles. Some craft stores will even give away broken pieces of tile and broken pieces of ceramic items that have fallen/broken.

Wouldn't do anything permanent. You may change your mind in a few months. If you want shiny, you could use a hammered metal spray paint. Or use double-faced tape and do pics of friends, sports stuff, etc. around the frame.

Hi, I totally agree, the penny idea sounds great or maybe mix it up with other coins..or buttons. so just start saving those pennies. and then stand back and admire your work and don't forget to share the 'after'.
