For DIY homeowners : This is one pallet of medium heavy Bermuda sod (mid-south Ga farm) 504 sq feet (188 pieces).

It took me (+50 with arthritic hands) 30 minutes to throw this on the ground. I didn't cheat and use the fork machine to move the pallet around :) This is for resale and not for a landscape installation. I did not lay the sod in a brick pattern to break the lines nor did I pay any particular attention to getting the pieces nudged closely together.
I have not used a sharp object to cut around curbs. You can figure about 1 labor hour per person in decent shape to lay one pallet of slab sod to be on the safe side. This does not include your prep work of removing existing weeds or bad existing sparse grass, grading or adding soil ammendment.
So weekend project of 2-3 pallets or 1000-1500 sq feet(if prepped ) for a couple in decent shape should only take half a day and you still have time to watch the football games!

And it is going to rain MONDAY whooohooo!

@Kathy Balaam Not sure where the question is there. The post was to show that pretty much any DIY homeowner can lay a pallet of sod successfully. I timed myself to see how long it took to lay it out. Does that clarify for you? Let me know if not and I will try to answer your questions. :)
