Do you have limited time, space, money or gardening skills? Live in a cold climate? Microgreens may be your solution to healthy 'fast food'! In just a few simple steps, you can grow this miniature garden indoors or out.

The 'big sisters' to sprouts, these delicious baby greens are packed with flavour, nutrients and health benefits.

Research scientists recently discovered in a study that microgreens contain 2-4 times more Vitamin C, Provitamin A, Vit K and E than the same plant’s mature leaves. This is an example of what I grow in one week.
A tiny garden in 1 week = maximum nutrients
In about 10cm2 (4" square), you can intensively 'farm' food (vegies, herbs or grains) in a shallow container. This method saves you space outdoors if you grew the same crop to their full size. It also saves time (don't have to wait till they mature to harvest) + money (only water for 1-2 weeks rather than months).

I reuse plastic food grade punnets to raise these tiny gardens on a sunny window sill. You can harvest as microgreens or allow them to grow into baby greens like this rocket/arugula. Save a few plants to sow in your outdoor garden if you wish. Sow seeds regularly for a constant harvest all year.

  • I'd like to add that microgreens are also easily digested. My mum had her bowel removed due to cancer & can't eat mature fibrous greens she loves. Microgreens are one way she can boost her health with nutrient-rich tender baby greens + add flavour to meals. With many people suffering the same health issue, I'm sure this would be a welcome solution to their diets.
