Pet Organization Tips

I absolutely adore my pup Pete. He’s my little ball of sunshine; however, I recently realized that his stuff was taking over our home! He has so much stuff: toys, accessories, treats, food, medicine and grooming supplies. It was time to organize and store his belongings in a convenient way. So today I’m sharing with you my pet organization tips!
If you have a pet of your own, I hope you get some inspiration from this post.
First, lets talk about Pete’s toys. I can’t believe how many toys this pup has! I forget about some of them sometimes because he hides them under and in our couches. To solve this problem, I re-purposed a basket we bought for our wedding. At the end of each day, I like to put all his toys back in the basket so when I wake up in the middle of the night for him to use the bathroom, I don’t step on them. Although it never fails. Every morning, he walked over to his toy basket and takes them all out one at a time and within minutes they are all over our living room floor again.
Since we are still potty-training Pete, we have poo bags and puppy pads on hand. We used to keep these supplies in a closet, but it wasn’t convenient since his puppy pad is in our living room. I did some re-organizing and took Bryan’s rarely used video games and put them in a bin in our home office. This gave us the extra room in our media center for these important potty supplies. Now Pete has a drawer full of his puppy pads, poo bags and booty wipes. (Yes, I wipe Pete’s booty after he goes to the bathroom. Hey! I like a clean dog!)
Next up, let’s talk about Pete’s food. I call this Pete’s food station, because he has officially taken over a portion of our counter space. We keep his food and a scoop in a pretty jar I found at Target. It works perfectly and holds a decent amount. Since we brought Pete home we’ve fed him Wellness brand puppy food, which I go into great detail in this post. Pete absolutely loves it! He eats the dry food on a daily basis, but we have the Petite Entrees on hand when we want to give him something different or if we need something on the go. Next to his food we have his opened treats. I’m a sucker for getting more treats every time we’re at the pet store, so keeping them on the counter reminds me how much we have left. His favorites are the Petite Treats and the Old Mother Hubbard Creepy Crunchers P-Nuttier Halloween treats. Aside from his food, we also keep his food and water bowl (when he’s not using them) and any daily medication he’s currently on right on counter.
Let’s be serious. Did you not think that Pete would also have a whole cabinet to himself? Of course! In the cabinet right next to his food station, we keep any unopened treats, his travel food container, and his grooming supplies. You may think it’s strange to keep his grooming stuff in the kitchen, but right now we don’t have an alternative. Once we finish up the office and get some items moved out of our bathroom/linen closet, there may be room there. But for now, this is where they stay.

There are other areas of our home dedicated to Pete, such as our foyer which has his walking accessories, but I’ll cover that in another post. I’m actually fixing up our foyer so I’ll share once that’s completed.
