How to repaint cabinets previously covered with Thermafoil

What is the best method, primer, and paint. Want to stay with white finish and add door pulls.

I am going to assume that the Thermafoil coating is still on the cabinets and doors? You need to thoroughly clean the entire surface your painting. TSP is about the best product for that. Once done you will need to scuff up the surface to provide a better surface for the paint to bite into. If this is not done, you will find the new paint will simply not last nearly as long as it would if you did not do this step. Once sanded clean again to remove any dust. Ideally you would want to spray the cabinets if possible, but using a smooth roller prime the surfaces using a good quality primer that the paint manufacture that you choose recommends. There are several good quality primers, but you want to be sure that the paint will work properly with the prime you purchase. It is difficult to achieve a long lasting finish on cabinets that have this plastic surface so you want everything possible going right in order to have the most successful job you can. I would suggest that you go to a paint only store, such a Sherwin Williams and have their professional sales people set you up with the correct products to use.

A lot of people are removing it prior to painting. I use a lot of kitchen doors in projects and as soon as I start painting them they come unglued. Be sure to check one before you start.
