Tree Identification Help

I need some help identifying a tree we have in our back yard. I am posting 3 pictures 2 of the tree and 1 of the berries. The tree has red berries on it, when you open the berry it has a pit in it like a cherry, the berries aren't very big. I was told to email a nursery in Kalispell Montana I sent pictures but they wont respond. I would really to know what this tree is and see if these berries are edible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

It looks like it might be Autumn Olive. Are the leaves light grey on the underside? Google it and see if that is what it is. If so, the fruit are indeed edible and the web has some interesting recipes.

Thank you but that isnt it the leaves are pretty rough looking, and they are just light green on the underside.

Its weird the berries look like that from the Autumn Olive but the leaves don't look anything like the leaves of the Autumn Olive Tree.

It definitely looks like a wild cherry to me.... try googling 'Prunus Avium' and see if this is closer to id'ing your mystery fruit:)

If the berries hang in clusters like cherries, I suspect that Shelley is right. You would probably do much better sending your photos to the nearest Montana State University Extension office than to a private nursery. Here's a list of them:
