Thanksgiving is right around the corner. Can you believe it! I love this time of year. The holiday excitement is in the air. Thanksgiving is such a special family time. The wonderful food, the fabulous family time and the beautiful fall decorations all contribute into a day when we can truly give thanks for all that we have.
Do you host Thanksgiving at your home? If so, have you thought of what your Thanksgiving table centerpiece will be? A centerpiece doesn’t have to be complicated to put together. Don’t be intimidated. I love to scan the popular home décor magazines and catalogs for ideas and inspiration. Once I see an idea I like, I use my creative resources to recreate the look for a lot less money.

I also like to repurpose old seasonal decor that is just taking up space in a storage container. Together, items such as fall silk flowers, garlands and artificial gourds can be transformed into something beautiful. Also, be sure to check out the end of season clearance sales at your local craft store. The big chain stores usually have great deals!

I also love to bring the outdoor in. One of the benefits of living on a 500-acre farm is that we grow 35 acres of pumpkins, ornamental gourds, and Indian corn, so I am lucky to have access to everything that is beautiful and fall. You can too! Shop at your local farmers market. You can usually buy these seasonal items at a really good price. I love adding these natural accents to my fall centerpieces. Gourds, mini-pumpkins and Indian corn are all wonderful to decorate with.

Here are a few easy Thanksgiving Centerpiece Ideas that you can whip up. The nice thing about them is that they can be done ahead of time…say, in October. One less thing you have to worry about in preparation for Thanksgiving Day.
This fall centerpiece is about as simple as it gets. I took an old wooden tray. Filled it with candles, a few gourds and intertwined garland around everything. Easy peasy and so pretty too!
A classic cornucopia is the symbol of Thanksgiving. I found wicker one in a local craft store and filled it with real gourds, mini-pumpkins and a few fall silk flower sprays. How beautiful is that! If you can’t find a cornucopia, any type of basket with work just as well. Don’t stress. It will be beautiful no matter what you use.
Make use of that cake stand that is stored in your cabinet. For this centerpiece, I used an old fall wreath and added a grapevine pumpkin to the center. I filled in the bottom with some small pumpkins and fall garland.

It’s amazing how a few simple decorations and a few basic household items can be transformed into something so pretty. All of these ideas took about 10 minutes each to create. So you see, creating your own Thanksgiving centerpiece is really easy. Use your creative resources and have fun with it. Hopefully, these ideas have sparked your imagination and creativity. I would love to see your creations!
