I have a split level that was built in the late 60's. Any idesas on how to update?

It has brown brick with cream accents on the first floor with cedar on the upper level, Brady bunch front double front door and arches near the front windows.

I agree with Belle, from the pictures I can't even see the front door - it needs some lighter and brighter color to 'pop-out' and say, "Welcome - I am over here!"

The same color could be used on the shudders (which I only like if they function - otherwise I feel they are un-needed decoration without a purpose)

Try using a computer paint program to test perhaps a creamy yellow on the dark brown siding, ...»

and try a deeper bright value of the color on the door, and shudders if they stay.

You could also try some black or very very dark brown trim (small area) around the windows and doors to outline them and make them 'pop'.

I had an old three story frame house in Kent, Ohio that had dingy grey siding. I painted the siding white, the trim an ivory yellow, and the window teasers and sills black - made the place very elegant.
