I love how naturalistic this looks. I'm not such a fan of boulders where there would never be boulders in nature, but because of the natural woodlands in the background, this feels "right." -
Thank you for your comments. The wooded backyard made the perfect setting for a pond with falls and patio. Yes, the boulders do work well. In our area, Southeastern Pennsylvania, it is common to find triassic diabase boulders in wooded lots from Pennsylvania through Central New Jersey. The "Diabase belt", is a region that extends from NJ to central PA. This rock type offers smooth slabs, micro crimps, and unique sculpted boulders with unlimited shapes and sizes. -
Well Lentzcaping..............it would seem you set up shop in the right area!! We don't have anything like that here, with the exception of some sandstone. Love those slabs micro crimps and sculpted boulders!! -
Thanks Becky! Of course, the larger boulders are not "everywhere" but they are quite the unusual feature locally, particularly near Lake Nockamixon, between Doylestown and Quakertown, PA. Apparently, Southeastern PA was part of the section where two continental plates collided during the Paleozoic Era, the North America Plate with the African Plate.
