Save Some Brass! Before You Get Rid of Your Outdated Brass Decor

Highstyle Restyle

Look what you can do to update and restyle it! I found this brass fireplace screen at a garage sale. It was screaming with potential and I knew I had to rescue it from its certain fate with the rest of the unwanted brass.
{BEFORE}
First, I spray painted the frame with Rustoleum Paint and Primer In One in Oil Rubbed Bronze. Once it was dry, I added a second coat for extra durability.

Look at all that gorgeous detail!

Next, I added a copper glaze to the appliques. It adds a hint of shimmer from the rest of the frame. It's hard to capture in photographs, but it's a subtle difference.

Once it was completely dry, I used a spray poly to seal and protect the finish.

I loved its new look so much, I couldn't part with it so I gave it a forever home.

This fireplace screen was the score of the century! It retails for around $475 and I only spent $40 and used materials I already had. Winning!
