Firewood Pillar Candle Holders

My husband and and I made these pillar candle holders out of firewood, and I absolutely love them. They were easy to make, too. A complete, step-by-step tutorial may be found at my blog link below.
First, I cut the logs using a miter saw. I wanted to make three candle holders at varying heights, so I made sure to cut them as such.
Then, I used a 1 1/2" drill bit to bore tealight-sized holes into the tops of each log.
Since the logs were rough and had splinters, I sanded each really well using 220-grit sandpaper and a random orbital sander.
Coming together!
To add some richness to the candle holders, I stained each using Rustoleum's "Kona" wood stain in a semi-gloss finish.
Then, I followed up with a coat of Rustoleum's polyurethane in a semi-gloss finish to seal the candle holders and give them some shine.
Once dry, I super-glued felt to the bottom of each candle holder so that they wouldn't scratch any furniture.
The finished product!
I absolutely love these candle holders. They'd make perfect wedding or holiday gifts, too.

I think I may try this only bigger or at least taller, group close together and tie with ribbons or twine, evergreens and decortions for a porch display. I could put glass around the candles or use mini lights. Oh, I am so excited to get going. Thanks Kirsten.
