A Fish Bowl Snowman...

I love using everyday things to make "quirky" holiday decor. This fishbowl snowman was one of my favorites from last year. We will definitely be "building" him again this season.

  • The sink is the original one from the kitchen in the house, salvaged from the cellar. 18
  • The shelf is a $3 thrift store find. 6
  • The door knob plates from the old door. 1

  • A couple of clearanced hooks from Hobby Lobby. 1
  • I installed wire mesh into the window space and added this cross section so I would have a place to mount an old rake head for a tool rack. 2

Potting Bench

When we replaced the old front door on our 100 year old home, I couldn't bring myself to throw the old one away. This is how we transformed it into a potting bench with repurposed lumber ...»

    for an inexpensive potting bench to buy or build. Only one other idea like this, using a recycled changing table!! This is great! Thanks!

Staining your concrete patio to look like tile.

I was so pleased with the DIY project on our back patio! I stained the concrete to look like tile. We used painter's tape to create the look of grout lines, and we used a concrete stain from Lowe's to stain the concrete. For a step by step tutorial, just click on the link below.
