My Hydrangeas!

My hydrangeas have all bloomed except my endless summer...The purple one that is my profile picture on hometalk concerns me as the leaves have come back after cutting the blooms and are small, few, the plant is not full of leaves and alot of the leaves start out green then brown comes on them and they become crumbly around the edges of the leaves...Next to the purple one I have a limelight that is wild and I have got to move it because it takes over the area...Next to the limelight I have an endless summer that is blooming but some of its leaves have brown on them as well...Next to that one I have a blue Hydrange...Do you think they have a disease on them????
Thanks, Shirley

The "Limelight" is a paniculata-type of hydrangea. "Endless Summer," and, I suspect, your other hydrangeas, are macrophyllas, and in my experience the foliage on them often takes a beating by the end of the season, much more so than the paniculatas. How much sun are they in? How much water do they get? It would really help if you could post a photo of the damage.

could be cercospora leaf spot....as Douglas says, a common problem of hydrangea in late summer. Not much can be done.

If the Limelight is performing well and the Endless Summer is not, I tend to think the Endless Summer may be in too much sun. How long have you had them?
