Can I upholster/cover plain back chairs?

I just bought four of these chairs. They are all nice and stuff, but I was wondering if you guys have any tips as how to make them more cottage-like. F.ex. pulling something over, like an upholster or something?

I actually have these chairs :) To add a little flair to them I got bright red seat cushions with velco ties to attach them to the back legs.

Personally, I think the style is perfect for the table, and they look comfortable. If you add cushions, it seems you're trying to turn modern into cottagy and I don't think it works.

in the picture the chairs appear to be plastic? if you don't want to use cushions, but want to add color, you can make "tabards" for the back of each chair. The tabard is basically a rectangle that you put ties on at the sides to hold it closed on each side of the chair back. This can be done quite economically, and you could make different ones for the various seasons.
