    Regarding microwaves being at shoulder height - to me anything over waist height is dangerous because of the fear of pulling hot food/plates/containers over myself. Its like a child reaching up for a pot on a stove w/- boiling water in it. Why not put the microwave in its own cupboard as per the dishwasher then its incorporated into the cupboards for an all over look
