Pottery Barn Inspired Lantern

One day while I was on Pottery Barn's website, I came across the Portsmouth lantern. I loved the look and style of the lantern and knew these would be great to use in our fire pit area. The lantern was mix of coastal and farmhouse which are both looks that I love.
We used 3 tobacco sticks in the construction of this lantern. The dimensions of the lantern is 18H x 8W. Charles cut the tobacco sticks into 14 pieces that measured 7 inches long which made the base and the sides of the lantern. He then cut 4-18 inch pieces to make the corners. The lantern assembly was simple by attaching the 7 inch side pieces to the corner pieces constructing a frame.
Once the frame for lantern was finished, we added the glass hurricane and the candle. I love how this project turned out. Most of all, I love the amount of money we saved by doing this project ourselves. The lantern construction was $2.30 for the wood frame and glass hurricane. When the cost of the $6 Walmart candle is added in, the project total was a little under $9.00. We saved over $90 on this project from the original price of the Portsmouth lantern and $50 from the sale price.
