Bold, Modern Dresser Makeover

We decided to give an old mid-century style dresser a bold blue makeover for our living room/office. This was a Craigslist find and we got it for a steal. I painted it a deep blue/teal color and sprayed the original hardware gold. Now it is a fun statement piece!

The finished product is stunning! The original hardware works so well with and adds to the new look! I too have trouble painting beautiful wood, but you know, that combination was not attractive. Some veneers are expensive but unless it is a choice piece, may as well paint it. The only time I cringe is when I see pieces that I know could possibly be worth a lot of money! If you do not like them...at least check them out...sell them, take the money to adopt a beautiful piece to restore! HA!!

It's a beautiful color, Erin- I just finished a piece in teal, my first bold color choice. Made me a little nervous, but it sure makes a statement.

I might have been tempted to paint the trim a contrasting color like an off white, but it really is a beautiful piece and using a different color on the trim would have changed the complexion of the entire piece...solid color it looks so modern...Really a great makeover!

Beautiful! I just got a great mid century piece that is bleached mahogany and I was afraid to just paint over the old details. After seeing your piece...not so much now! It's a little beat up and I don't know if I can bring it back to it's former life. I love the color you chose!
