I have a fig tree that has gotten too tall and wide.

It is about 30 feet tall and probably 20 feet wide. I need to trim it back both ways, how much and whne?

Thanks

Unless you can deal with no figs next year, the best method is to prune in two steps. In December, take off about half of what you need to remove. In summer, when fruit is visible, take out the other half. In succeeding years do most of your pruning in summer.....but remember that the fig ALWAYS wants to be 30 ft tall and 20 ft wide.
