It has been so many years since this orchid bloomed, I forgot what color it was. For some reason, I had thought it was yellow, but it turned out to be simple white. Far less flamboyant than any of its cousins.
Hard to believe it's an orchid isn't it Becky and Sheila? Doesn't look like all the other orchids. You two keep HT going. I'm heading to the beach (on the E. coast) for girl friends' week this week.
Wow, what a cool flower, I've never seen anything like it! If I'd only seen the foliage I'd have said daylily.....I love how the green "thing" droops over the flower....reminds me of a native wildflower but I can't call to mind the name right now.... you LUCKY GIRL headed for a week of Girl Vacation! Be careful and have fun!
Thanks for the well wishes ladies!! This is a first for me.........spending 5 days away w/girl friends. Good thing one owns a waterfront townhome! Becky, congratulations! I'm sure you'll have the hang of it in no time at all. You get use to not having breaks and relying on reverse when necessary. The rest of the time, you'll learn to coast to a stop. I've never seen another orchid like this one; I've seen foliage on a orchid like this, but not the flower. All the same, it doesn't mean it's a rare orchid. Have a good week!!
Becky, how did you know I had trouble stopping? LOL I felt like you were there when I read your comment. Spooky!
I had just rounded a corner (around an island in the lake) when I saw an orange flag up. My eyes popped out and I yelled at my hubby who had just gone up to the bow "what do I do!?" meaning how do I stop. He told me to pull back on the black thingy. Okay he didn't call it the black thingy, but

I can't remember what it's called. Anyway I did, but I pulled too fast and killed the motor. I let him drive after that. We are getting the hang of getting her in and out of the water quite well I might add. She's definitely more "MISS Adventure" than MISadventure now.
Becky, when I first learned how to drive our ski boat, that was the part that freaked me out............no brakes! It didn't freak me out for long; I became ended up being a better driver for slalom skiing than hubby, and was Johnny on the spot whenever a skier went down, circling back to protect them. But those are the worries one has when first learning to drive a boat.
Nah, Becky, you learn to control a steady speed, turn properly, etc.; you just want to have a spotter at all times while you've a skier behind. Turning in for the evening. Will chat tomorrow. Nite!
Do have fun at the beach Becky. We just got back from another day on the lake with Miss Adventure. I even drove a bit.

Good night. I'm heading out myself as soon as I check the last notification. Well I hope there's only one still.
