Idea for a dining/sewing room

Because of my health we had to move my sewing room downstairs. The dining room is large so that is where I have to be. My fabric stash will be in a closet. How do I decorate? There is a deep closet with many shelves in it for my fabric so it won't sit out. But still I have bookcases with books and tools and other supplies, 2 sewing machines, an a Serger, not to mention a large table that I use to cut fabric an lay out patterns, a small file cabinet with my pattern designs and one large window. On the other side there is a old fashioned built in dark wood floor two ceiling cabinet with doors. One wall is an archway to the living room. I have a Duncan fife table, a small buffet and a large china hutch, all in dark wood. Help! Help!

A picture would really help .If you can, divide the room up with a free standing room divider or even use the books cases. If not I would try and use a corner or one side of the room for your sewing center. But like I stated a picture would really help us help you.

Why not make bookshelves that cover the closet doors. Kind of like they do hidden rooms. The shelves could slide in front of each other or from side to side. Then both sides of room would look alike. Make a cover for you dining room table so it can do double duty when not in use. I put my stuff inside closet myself.

Is there anyway your dining table can serve as the large lay out table? Maybe with a customized felt & vinyl cover for it? Wanda's ideas for the shelves sound good. Can the sewing machines roll into the closet, or will they need to stay out? Perhaps a nice screen (3 or 4 piece) could hide them. Do you use your dining room often? Could it be relocated? Just throwing out ideas, hope it all works in your favor.

thanks all I think the screens will work that way I can hide my work an not worry about putting it away. Its a large room, so my dining table an buffet have plenty of room and I have a layout table a a work table an sewing table that all but up against each other on the other side by the windows need plenty of light to work. the room is white need to change that
