Fires In Washington pretty bad

I know Colorado had it bad, but now we are having our share, air quality is very bad almost all over Washington. So many hills and mountains and valleys where it gets stuck and doesnt move. We traveled through so much of it over the weekend, I got sore throat and sinus headaches. So many have it so much worse! Have to stay in their homes. How are things in Colorado now? Steve? KMS?

I hadn't heard of the ones in Washington state Bernice. My sister lives in Wyoming and she said they'd have a very smoky summer with fires all around them. This drought has really made for perfect conditions for fires, that's for sure.

My Dad has complained about wildfires round Florida for several years...he's on Oxygen so he has to stay in when it gets like that and it really bothers him. Still so many others have it so much worse. I hope the rainy season comes and clears the air and stops the fires Bernice really soon!

So sorry to hear your Dad is on oxygen Sharron. My Dad was too for the last 18months of his life. Granted it did help him get around where he'd not have been able to without it.

Hope you do OK, Bernice. This has certainly been a challenging year weather-wise for folks all over the country.

Thanks Doug, thankfully I dont have respiratory problems, even tho i am getting irritations, but some really are affected.

We havent had any near fires, some in neighboring areas, but we came back from Spokane through Moses Lake and Ellensburg, (Kittitas county), and the wind machines(?) Turbines, were even scorched. Soooo much sagebrush here...on miles and miles of undeveloped land. I dont know if the fires ...»

burned long enough to hurt the turbines, moving fast over the sagebrush, (there are scads of turbines all over the hills here) but you sure could see the black smoke on them. Evidently they turn the power off if near fires. I hope anyway. What is weird is, as the fire speeds over the sagebrush, it doesnt even get completely burned, just scorched, I would think they would burn completely, but not. Now they just look like little black stick things. As in many places we need rain.

We are getting the smoke from over there and our air quality is down too, we had a couple of fires near the local airport and it really hung over the shipyard; we could smell and taste it, it was that bad last week. On the upside our wildland fire fighters are getting a workout and pay. On the down side so much wildlife and cattle haven't survived. Some ranchers lost entire herds.

This is really getting bad now, 2 fires are so big they are converging, which means they will probably be easier to contain. But the air quality is so bad. Check out NWCN northwest cable news...I havent heard anything about colorado's fires lately?
