What a neat idea Paula. I have loads of these water beads left from our daughter's wedding. I even have a glass pumpkin!

Yep. I bet your beads are colored, right? Mine are clear. I wonder if a colored light would work well enough. What do you think?

What is the original purpose of these "water balls"? I've never heard of them...

I usually do this with of Christmas balls, and have been doing it for about 25 years now. I just love to fill glass jars or what have you with BEAUTIFUL THINGS.

That's funny because that's the first think I thought Martha!

Leida, I had not clue these little water beads were around that long. I've only seen them in the last year or so.

they start out as tiny hard bead that you soak in water for 12 hours. They increase in size and when they start to shrink, you just have to resoak them. Some of them are transparent and some are opaque. that is how they look like they glow

Becky, LOL!!! You are right. These water beads have only been around (that I know of) for about 5 years. What Paula posted is totally new to me, and I do like it a whole lot. What I meant to say was Christmas balls on glass jars, instead of water beads.

Ah that's how you got the penny/quarter look Paula. It's really amazing watching them change, isn't it?

Leida, I found out about them because our daughter wanted them in the vases on her reception tables to hold flowers.

Becky, yes. They also look amazingly beautiful and very delicate on flower vases.
