Awesome Nightstands

The New Vintage
by The New Vintage
Woo Hoo!!! I finally pulled myself together to work on a pair of long overdue nightstands project.
The makeover inspiration for these nightstands came from these mugs I found at a local Chapters bookstore.
I found this dark purple color at Rona and was rather intrigued by it. Decided to name it "midnight purple" and thought I would give it a try on the nightstands. I went with the gold as the accent color. I also dry brushed the gold on a few places, particularly around the corners, to give the nightstands a "fake" distressed look.
And in case you were wondering, it was my 11 years old daughter who helped me come up with the words "Be Awesome Tomorrow" for the other nightstand. What better way to wake up than with the words "Be Awesome Today" and finish off an awesome day with the words "Be Awesome Tomorrow".

I gave my son his grandmother’s old bedroom set which is very similar...ugly, chunky, and dark wood. Once again, you’ve given me inspiration to revamp the set into something pretty.

I bet your son wasn't too thrilled about the "old" new bedroom set. I sold these nightstands to a YOUNG lady. She was so excited about them and described them as a piece of art. What a great way to get young people excited about vintage... outdated furniture. Can't wait to see how you are going to transform yours =) @
