Custom Kitchen Reveal: From Builder Basic To Completely Custom

Sometimes a designer's biggest challenges aren't designing a great kitchen from a terrible one; sometimes they are designing an outstanding kitchen from an ok one! When we walk in to a client's home, it does not matter one bit what we think about their existing kitchen or what we think they should do with their new kitchen. The only thing that matters is that we listen to our client and create the space that they want!
Of course our clients look to us for our design and renovation expertise, but we need to know what doesn't work for them and what they don't like about their old space before we can even get to the beautiful new kitchen!
Here, this client had what most of us in Atlanta would call and nice builder kitchen. But what they wanted was completely different! They wanted a space suited for a chef and a family alike. To open the space and remove the awkward pantry. A large island for kids to do homework and join in food prep. They wanted high-end appliances that would work as well for large parties as for small family meals. They desired a custom "farmhouse city chic" appearance of rich woods and contrasts: hard metals, delicate tiles, steady furniture style cabinetry, adjustable pendant task lighting and an incredibly functional window seat for storage and resting!
After all was said and done the new kitchen is nothing short of outstanding. Every inch is custom detailed to match the client's taste. Best of all it's space that will give them the look and function they love and suit their house well for future buyers!

Im not liking the large square island at all. Looks like it wasted really good space. Not a lot of room between the table and the stove leaving a narrower path all around. No flow!
