What finish to use on old barn wood

I am using old barn wood to build cabinets and maybe my ceiling

    I would white wash them,depends on what room it is for.

    If you like the patina of the wood I would just put a clear poly over it.

    @Karlayne Dossett as mentioned above it does depend on the look you want to achieve. I have used old fence boards on several pieces of furniture and I sanded them for a smooth finish - but you loose the old look finish - then painted them. I achieved what I was going for but you need to know what you want the finish to be.

    Karlayne, Pioneer Wood Patina has a product called Pioneer Wood Patina- Natural Beeswax Paste. It is great for these types of projects and it is made with all food grade products so it is also a good choice for butchers blocks, cutting board and such. www.pioneer-wood.com
