PART 1: MAJOR MAKEOVER FOR GARDEN CRITTERS

BUNNIES & TURTLES

I've had these adorable figurines sitting in various parts of my backyard flower gardens for years. I suddenly realized about mid summer how drab & scraggly they were looking and needed a makeover.

Poor Bunny - she has no color at all! Looks pretty blah!

Fresh new paint livened her up a bit don't you think? Now you can actually read her sign.

Thank you ALL!! Believe me, it was a lot of time and tons of layering of paint to achieve a natural look but I love dabbling in paint.

@Carroll - I just used regular craft paint - nothing special but I did use a shiny polyurathane spray coat - about 3 I think.

GREAT job, and just how adorable. This give an idea of doing the same to some lovely figurines of boys and girls I also have outside that need more than a little refreshing.

Go for it Leida!! I have 3 little gnomes that hang out in my shade garden I need to refresh. I've done them once about 4-5 yrs. ago so they need new clothes again. I also have a couple of elves that hang from rope (NO - not around their necks either!!) but from a tree branch and they look really bad. Guess these will keep me busy thru the winter!! I also have a boy & girl figurine that were always white but I'm tinkering w/snazzing them up with some color. Not bright like I did on turtles but softer pastels. We'll see. . . .

My little outside boys/girls figurines came with beautiful pastel colors, and though I clear painted them when bought, now about 5 years later , they do need a helping hand. My problem is that paint and I kind of WRESTLE with each other a little bit (not my type of fun). LOL!!!

For you to paint mine, that certainly sounds attractive. If you see them, I'm sure you will like them because they are so pretty, and they have a lot of definition (don't know if that is exactly how one calls how real they look) to them.

Ok. I will post some pics when I do take them. They are about 2 feet or so tall, and smaller. In total I have 5, but one is badly broken, but I still display it like that.

Susan, you gave them such an "alive" look. Like you could just run your fingers thru their hair, they look so real! You really have the touch with the paint brush. You have been a busy lady! Also, I know you are president of a prestigious club on top of everything else you do! Super Susan! These are works of art indeed.
