How beautiful Susan. I've used plaster of paris to make leaf & acorn shapes in a candy mold - years ago! I sealed them & then painted them in fall colors and glued them to the outside of our staircase - the pretty part that faces the hallway.
I love this idea - my Elephant ears are about done for this year but if I can only find one I am definitely gonna try this!! Thanks for sharing!!
I love using plant leaves as molds. I have seen them turned into beautiful stepping stones, and have even seen garlic scapes turned into wonderfully sculptural jewelry.
They are pretty delicate. I would use them for wall art only unless you fortify the plaster mix with some sort of strengthening agent. I've seen this technique used for birdbaths and such, where they used concrete instead of plaster.
Hi Lynne, You can use any type of leaf, however, I would suggest using thick, strong leaves. The Elephant Ear does well with this, but if you could find something with thick veiny leaves, it would work too.
