I am wanting to know what I could make a 24" round grapevine wreath out of to add Christmas lights on and set in an urn for Christmas?

  • Hello! Most craft stores sell wood or wire wreath frames so you can wrap them up and decorate them how you see fit. Hope this helps!

To make a sphere, go to the nearest $store and buy a big plastic ball...designed for kiddos.(or maybe you have an old blow up beach ball??) Get your grapevine (I use real grapevine harvested from the woods in my area, but Michaels and Hobby Lobby sell big lengths rolled up in a ring), soak it in hot water for a couple of hours, and then start "wrapping" the ball...round and round and over and under. It will then look like the sphere that you wanted. Stick a sharp knife in the ball and collapse it (you may have to cut it in several places). You then carefully pull the pieces of the ball out through the openings between the vines. Fill it with a string of lights and voila, you have a sphere for your urn! Wear old clothes and gloves to do this, because the wet grapevine will be yukky ;-)
